The Entertainer Blogger Award

Today I’ll be forgoing my usual fantasy musings to have a go at answering some questions for the Entertainer Blogger Award. Thank you to Kayla at Kdrewthebookworm for nominating me! You can go and check out her awesome blog and her answers here.

THE RULES:

Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
Add these rules to your post.
Answer all the questions below.
Display the award picture in your post.
Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all ENTERTAINING!

So here are my answers:

1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?

Ah so many reasons… but I’ll try to keep this short. Essentially I was writing a novel and friends kept telling me “you should blog”, saying it would be good to regularly write things and chat with people online. I was very dubious as I knew nothing about blogging. Why would anyone want to read my blog? What would I even write about? I was ready to dismiss the idea when I got some good advice – I should treat it as a learning experience, write about something I enjoyed, and not worry so much whether it was going to appeal to anyone.

Because I love reading all kinds of fantasy books and analysing and talking about the genre, I decided that was what I would do on my blog. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed reading other blogs. And since then I’ve just kept doing it!

2. What is your favourite book?

That’s such a tough one to answer as I have so many favourites… normally I’d choose a Harry Potter book, because that is such a pivotal and nostalgic series for me, but that seems too easy… so I’ll pick two other books that I love to bits which work as ‘stand-alones’ (even though the first one is part of a series it is quite self contained) – one fantasy and one science fiction:

3. What do you dislike the most?

Hmm… I dislike a lot of things, but to pick a random one I’ll say: people who pick arguments with (or are rude to) strangers for no good reason. I’ll never understand why they get a kick out of ruining everyone else’s day!

4. What is your favourite food at the mall?

At the risk of sounding like Chief Wiggum… donuts. I rarely eat donuts, but when I go to a mall I find it hard to pass by the donut stand without buying one. I especially love donut holes with cinnamon and sugar  🙂

5. What is your favourite past time?

I’m going to rule out reading, writing and blogging here as those seem too obvious… so I’ll say cycling. Not extreme mountain biking or dedicated racer cycling or anything, just leisurely cycle trips through the countryside. Going on a bike trip makes me feel free to explore… and I also just love the feel of the wind rushing in my face!

Keira @ Pirate Lady Pages

Anyone got an interesting answer to one of these? I’d love to hear it in the comments. I’m particularly curious what people’s favourite mall foods are. Such an odd question…

    • Haha no that doesn’t count 🙂 political discussions are good! I think I’m more talking about when a neighbour decides to come shout at you/lecture you out of the blue about something small that is annoying them instead of just asking nicely, or when people take their crankiness out on cashiers or salespeople for little things that totally aren’t their fault when the salespeople are only being friendly and nice… just seems unnecessary!

      • haha good- or I’d be in trouble! (although I tend to get myself in trouble with that regardless!) ahh I understand completely what you mean- especially since I’ve worked in things where you have to deal with customers- it’s horrible when people are rude for no reason!

  1. I was surprised to find many authors have a blog to share their stories, give updates and just be a part of the community and share the love of books. I like that I was able to discover many indie authors thanks to it. I still haven’t read Ready Player One, but now it’s staring at me from my shelf and screaming “see, I’m someone’s favorite, read me!!” haha!
Thank you for nominating me! I’ll make sure to let you know what my favorite mall food it very soon!

    • Yes before I started blogging people told me one of the best things about it was feeling like part of a community, sharing book love and interacting with other book lovers – but I didn’t really understand how nice that would be till I started blogging myself!
I hope you enjoy Ready Player One – I adored it (and coincidentally it was recommended to me by another blogger shortly after I started blogging, I’d never even heard of it before that!).
Looking forward to finding out what your favourite mall food is 🙂
